Background

From the pro game
to the first kick

Will Wilson played professionally before turning to coaching full time. He now runs Next Level Player Development, working one-to-one and in small groups with players from primary school age all the way up to teenagers chasing academy places.

Alongside his playing background he is a qualified personal trainer and a qualified nutritionist, and has built connections across the Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Fulham, Gillingham academies.

Future Stars grew out of a simple observation: by the time a child arrives for one-to-one coaching, their relationship with football is already formed. Get the first experience right, make it warm, funny and low-pressure, and everything afterwards is easier.

He is DBS checked and first aid trained, and carries a first aid kit to every session.

Coaching philosophy

How we coach
very small people

Every child at their own pace

Some children sprint onto the pitch. Some spend three weeks watching from behind a parent's leg. Both are completely normal and both are welcome.

Praise before correction

At this age, confidence is the skill worth building. Technique follows a child who believes they can do it, never the other way round.

Structure without pressure

Sessions are properly planned and properly run. That structure is what makes them feel safe enough to try something they might get wrong.

The wider pathway

One coach,
two programmes

Future Stars is where it starts. Next Level Player Development is where it goes.

Next Level Future Stars runs group classes for toddlers and young children: first touches, first friends, first taste of a real football session.

Next Level Player Development takes over as they grow out of it, with one-to-one and small-group coaching for older players. When your child is ready, they move straight across. Same coach, same standards, next stage.

Coach Will decides when a child is ready and will always talk it through with you first. Nobody gets moved on without a conversation.
